More than 25 people were evacuated from an apartment complex in Dublin's north inner city after a fire broke out early this morning.

One woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries after the fire broke out in a ground floor apartment in the Castleforbes Square Aparatments, Castleforbes Road at 5.30am.

The woman is being treated in the Mater Hospital but her injuries are not said to be life-threatening.

Gardai said the fire was put out by Dublin Fire Brigade and that a number of other apartments were damaged by the blaze. Officers in Store Street Garda Stations are investigating the fire.
