A YOUNG mother has become the first person in the State to plead guilty to a new charge of knowingly handling the proceeds of drug dealing.

Elaine Moore (26) admitted handling £8,000 at Main Street, Tallaght, on November 21st, 1995, "knowing or believing such property in whole or in part indirectly represented Alan Lynch's proceeds from drug dealing", contrary to Section 31, subsections 3 and 9 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1994.

Moore, a mother of one, also pleaded guilty to a charge of allowing her house at Alder Park Court, Tallaght, to be used for the distribution of heroin.

Prosecutor, Mr Peter Charleton SC, told Dublin Circuit Criminal Court gardai were satisfied Moore did not pose a danger to society at present and she was released on bail to November 6th next.
