Woman's body discovered in Waterford

Gardai in Waterford city are investigating the discovery of a woman's body in the boot of a car this afternoon.

Gardai in Waterford city are investigating the discovery of a woman's body in the boot of a car this afternoon.

The body was found in a car at Cathal Brugha Street.

The car containing the dead woman's body was removed to Tramore Garda Station for a forensic examination.

A preliminary post-mortem examination has been carried out by the State Pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy.

Gardai have not yet named the woman.

However, it is feared the body is that of a 55-year-old woman who has been missing for two days.

Mrs Mary (Maimie) Walsh, a mother of two from Glendalligan, Leamybrien, Co Waterford, was last seen on Monday morning as she left her home.
