Gardai in Waterford city are investigating the discovery of a woman's body in the boot of a car this afternoon.
The body was found in a car at Cathal Brugha Street.
The car containing the dead woman's body was removed to Tramore Garda Station for a forensic examination.
A preliminary post-mortem examination has been carried out by the State Pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy.
Gardai have not yet named the woman.
However, it is feared the body is that of a 55-year-old woman who has been missing for two days.
Mrs Mary (Maimie) Walsh, a mother of two from Glendalligan, Leamybrien, Co Waterford, was last seen on Monday morning as she left her home.
