Woman rescued from Wicklow mountains

A woman in her mid-50s was rescued yesterday after falling while walking in the Wicklow mountains yesterday.

A woman in her mid-50s was rescued yesterday after falling while walking in the Wicklow mountains yesterday.

The incident happened at about 2.30 pm.

The woman was out walking with a group of friends when she fell while descending the steep ground below the rock outcrop know as Eagles nest at Lough Bray Upper. She sustained injury to her lower back and was also complaining of chest and leg pain.

Members of the Glen of Imaal and Dublin/Wicklow mountain rescue Teams provided medical assistance and extricated the woman from the small gully which she had fallen into.

The woman was then taken by the Coastguard S61 Helicopter to Tallaght Hospital for medical assessment.
