Woman rescued from Howth water

A rescue operation took place today near Howth after a woman was seen at the bottom of the cliffs near the Baily Lighthouse.

A rescue operation took place today near Howth after a woman was seen at the bottom of the cliffs near the Baily Lighthouse.

A group of students reported having seen a person in the water at the bottom of the cliffs near what is known as “the nose of Howth” at 3pm.

The Irish coastguard helicopter from Dublin, which was in the area, responded to the call followed a short time later by a Howth coastguard unit and the RNLI.

Just before 3.15pm, the woman was taken from the water and brought to the coastguard base at Dublin airport where she was handed into the care of the HSE at 3.41pm.

Howth gardaí are investigating.
