A PSNI officer was injured today when she was hit by a car while manning a cordon around a suspicious vehicle in south County Down.

One man was arrested after the accident at a road junction on the Camlough Road outside Newry.

The officer was being treated in hospital for head injuries which were not believed to be life threatening.

British army bomb disposal experts later carried out two controlled explosions on the suspicious vehicle.
