A 34-year-old Lithuanian woman has admitted killing another woman in Dublin on Christmas Eve 2010.

Greta Dudko of Maple Green, Castleknock, Dublin, was arraigned before the Central Criminal Court yesterday, charged with murdering 56-year-old Ana Butautiene.

She pleaded not guilty to murdering her fellow Lithuanian at Station Court Hall, Clonsilla in Dublin, but she pleaded guilty to Ms Butautiene’s manslaughter.

However, this plea was not accepted by the State and Mr Justice Paul Carney swore in a jury of eight women and four men to hear a murder trial.

The jurors heard that Ms Dudko had worked in Newpark Care Centre, a nursing home in Co Dublin, and had previously lived with her husband on Manor Street in the city.

Her trial, expected to last more than a week, will open on Thursday before Mr Justice Garrett Sheehan.
