An elderly woman has died when she was struck by a car while out walking in Co Roscommon last night.
The incident happened shortly after 8.30pm on the old Athlone to Ballinasloe road at Ballydangan.
No one else was injured in the collision.
The road has been closed pending a forensic investigation, diversions are in place and motorists are advised to use the M6.
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to contact them at Roscommon Garda station 090-6638300.
