A woman has been killed and a man injured in a stabbing incident in Tullamore, Co Offaly this evening.
The incident occurred in an apartment on Tara Street in the town at around 7pm.
There were unconfirmed reports that the victim was a Brazilian national. A Garda spokesman said her body remains at the scene, which has been sealed off.
The man has been taken to the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore where his condition is described as stable.
