A woman in her 60s has been killed in a road crash in Donegal and is the second person to die on the State's roads today.

The fatal collision happened at Claggan, Moville at 2.45pm, a Garda statement said.

The woman was a passenger in a car that hit another car.

According to the Garda, two men believed to be the drivers of the cars were taken to Letterkenny General Hospital. Their condition is not known.

The road remains closed while gardai carry out their investigations.

Earlier, an 81-year-old man died in Co Clare this morning after his car collided with another vehicle. The crash happened on the Sandfield Road in Ennis at around 8.15am.

It is believed the man died at the scene.
