A woman has died in a head-on crash in Co Wexford.

A woman has died in a head-on crash in Co Wexford.

The woman, believed to be in her 40s, was the driver and sole occupant of a car that collided head-on with another car at Ballinboole, about three kilometres from New Ross, at around 6.15pm.

The man driving the other car, also its sole occupant, was injured and was taken to Wexford General Hospital.

Gardai at New Ross are investigating and have asked anyone who witnessed the collision to ring them at 051 426030.

Tonight's fatality brings to 251 the number of people killed on the State's roads so far this year.
