Detectives from the PSNI’s Public Protection Unit investigating allegations of historic sexual abuse in the Co Down area have arrested a woman in relation to a number of offences this evening.

The woman will appear before Newtownards Magistrates Court tomorrow morning where she will be charged with a number of offences including 15 charges of cruelty, four indecent assault charges and four charges of gross indecency.

A spokeswoman for the PSNI said all charges will be reviewed by the PPS.
