A woman died in a fire in Wicklow on Thursday evening. Ms Christina Coffey (63), was alone in her home at Strand Street when the fire was noticed by a neighbour just after 5 p.m.
Gardai said the blaze appeared to have spread from a coal fire in the sitting-room and the victim was overcome while trying to escape.
