A woman died this evening when she was struck by a car in Ballydangan, three miles from Ballinasloe in Co Galway.
The incident happened at about 6pm on the old N6. The woman, who was in her fifties, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body has been removed to Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe.
The road will be closed until tomorrow morning for forensic examination. Diversions are in place.
