An elderly woman has died following a house fire in Co Louth this morning.

An elderly woman has died following a house fire in Co Louth this morning.

The alarm was raised after a passer-by spotted the property in Ardee on fire at around 6.30am.

Emergency services rushed to the scene but were unable to save the 82-year-old woman, who lived alone.
Gardai said they are not treating the fire as suspicious.

The fire broke out at a property in Readypenny, between Ardee and Dundalk.
