A 69 year old woman collapsed and died after an attempted burglary at her north Dublin home early yesterday morning.

At Lambay Road in Drumcondra, shortly after 4a.m., the woman's daughter disturbed an intruder who had broken a downstairs window. Gardai said the daughter screamed and the man left without confronting her. Nothing had been taken.

The elderly woman came downstairs and was upset. She was being comforted by her daughter and a neighbour when she collapsed, gardai said. She was taken to the Mater Hospital where she died shortly afterwards.
