A 19-year-old pedestrian was killed when she was hit by a car in Galway early this morning.
The woman was struck by the car on Monivea Road near Briar Hill at 4.40 this morning. She was taken to Galway University Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
The scene is being examined by Garda crash investigators and traffic restrictions are in place.
Meanwhile, gardai have named the 27-year-old victim of a crash in Co Kildare.
Jason Stone of Kilglynn, Kilcock, Co Meath, was fatally injured when his car struck a tree and plunged into a drain at Painstown, Donadea, Co Kildare.
