A woman who tried to import heroin to Ireland was given a three-year suspended sentence on the condition that she leaves the country.

Kristina Mieliauskaite (22), of Beechwood Prospect Woods in Longford, who comes from Lithuania, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to importing heroin at Dublin airport on March 23rd, 2010.

Padraig Dwyer SC, defending, said she had recently given birth to child and so wanted to avoid a custodial sentence.
