A 19-YEAR-old woman and a man in his 80s have been killed in car crashes in Galway and Tipperary.

A 19-YEAR-old woman and a man in his 80s have been killed in car crashes in Galway and Tipperary.

Gardaí in east Galway are seeking witnesses to a crash in which a young woman died on Sunday night.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at about 10.20pm at Tonamaddy, Creggs, Co Galway.

Elaine Curley (19), Gurran, Creggs, who was alone in the car, was taken to Galway University Hospital where she died from her injuries.

Gardaí have appealed for information from anyone who was in the Tonamaddy area between 10pm and 11pm on Sunday to call them at Ballinasloe Garda station, on 090-963 1890, or any Garda station.

Gardaí in Roscrea, Co Tipperary, are investigating a single-vehicle crash on the N7 at Pintown, Roscrea on the old Limerick road, at 4.45pm yesterday.

The crash involved a car being driven by a man in his 80s, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at Portlaoise General Hospital.
