Woman (92) killed in Cork house fire

A 92-year-old woman has died following a house fire this morning in Cork.

A 92-year-old woman has died following a house fire this morning in Cork.

Fire crews were called to a house in Blackrock Village in the outskirts of Cork city at around 11.30am after the woman's daughter raised the alarm.

The woman, who was overcome with smoke, was brought to Cork University Hospital but died a short time later.

A Garda source said it is believed the fire was caused by an electrical fault.
