Woman (60) stabbed in Drogheda

A woman is being questioned by gardaí today after a 60-year-old woman was stabbed in Drogheda last night.

A woman is being questioned by gardaí today after a 60-year-old woman was stabbed in Drogheda last night.

The victim was left fighting for her life after the apparently unprovoked attack outside St Peter’s Church in Drogheda at about 10.20pm yesterday.

A 36-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on West Street and taken to Drogheda Garda station.

She can be held for up to 24 hours under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Doctors at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital are treating the victim for a number of stab injuries and her condition remains critical.

Detectives in Drogheda have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
