A young mother who claimed pressure was put on her into taking a heroin parcel to Wheatfield Prison has received a two-year suspended sentence at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Judge Tony Hunt accepted that Paula Kavanagh (22), Glenhill Avenue, Finglas, who has no previous convictions, was put under “considerable stress” by third parties to take the 270 grams of heroin worth €7,000 to the prison in January 2007.
