A 20-year-old woman has died after a car in which she was travelling crashed into a canal in Navan, Co Meath last night.
A second woman managed to escape and raise the alarm. No other vehicle was involved in the crash which happened at 11.15pm.
Gardai said the dead woman was thought to be from eastern Europe and added that efforts to contact her family were ongoing. She has not yet been formally named.
