Gardaí have appealed for information on a "car-jacking" in Co Louth last week.

A black BMW X5 was taken after its driver was forced off the road early last Tuesday morning.

The vehicle was hit from behind by a white car, believed to be a Nissan Almera, on the Castlebellingham to Dunleer Road at about 3am on January 8th.

The driver of the BMW stopped and got out of his vehicle, believing the incident was an accident. But a man got out of the white car, took the BMW and drove off toward the M1 motorway.

The white car, with two other male occupants, followed behind.

Gardaí have asked anybody with information on the vehicle, registration number 07 D 6676, to contact them at Dunleer Garda Station (041-6851202), Drogheda Garda Station (041-9874200), or Garda confidential line on 1800-666111.
