Gardaí in Co Galway are seeking the public's help in tracing a BMW convertible which was involved in a robbery early this morning.

The incident happened at a petrol station on the Athlone Road in Ballinasloe at about 5.10am.

The robbery occurred when a number of armed and masked males entered the premises and proceeded to threaten staff and customers. They consequently made their escape with an amount of cash.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

The men then made their escape in the vehicle in the direction of the old Dublin Road in a black BMW 645 Series convertible with an 07 Monaghan licence plate.
