Winds force cancellation of 2 St Patrick's events

Organisers of festivities for the country's national day have been forced to cancel two events because of high winds.

Organisers of festivities for the country's national day have been forced to cancel two events because of high winds.

St Patrick's Festival this morning decided to drop the 7up Music Stage set to take place in Dublin's Fitzwilliam Street and the Glow in the Phoenix Park event, which was set to take place at 6.30 p.m.

"St Patrick's Festival regrets for any inconvenience caused and invites people into the City of Dublin today to enjoy the many other wonderful events the festival has to offer," a statement said.

Met Éireann issued a gale warning this morning saying southwest to west winds, would continue to reach gale force today.
