Police in the Egyptian port of Alexandria said yesterday they had arrested a man who stabbed his wife for refusing to cook imported meat because she was scared it was infected with BSE. They did not say where the meat was from, but Egyptian newspapers have been dominated by reports about the disease.
The woman is critical in hospital.
