Wholesale prices fall by 0.6%

Manufacturing prices fell by 0.6 per cent in December, according to the latest Central Statistic Office figures.

This compares to a decrease of 0.9 per cent recorded for December of last year.

As a result, the annual percentage change showed a decrease of 1.8 per cent in December, compared to a decrease of 2.1 per cent in November.

Building and construction prices increased by 9.6 per cent over the year. The most notable yearly changes were increases in macadam and asphalt - which rose 17.1 per cent.

The price of energy products increased by 4.8 per cent in the year since December 2005; petroleum fuels fell by 1.3 per cent.
