PRESIDENT Clinton had a 10 minute meeting in the Oval Office on Wednesday with the Protestant schoolboy who welcomed him to Belfast on November 30th, a White House official said yesterday.

The President hugged David Sterrett (11) when he arrived at the White House with his parents Dave and Georgina Sterrett, sister Christine (8) and brother Matthew (5).

David and Catholic schoolgirl Catherine Hamill captivated Mr Clinton when reading out letters they had composed for him at Mackie's Factory on Springfield Road.

The President gave David an autographed booklet of his speeches in Ireland in which both are mentioned.
