The Enniscorthy drama society is the top group in the Esso All Ireland Drama Festival for the second consecutive year - the first time a group has won two years in a row.

The group won with its production of Moonshine, by Jim Nolan. More than 300 groups took part in the festival. The new Irish play award went to Susan Knight for Dream House; the best actor award to Pat Connaughton of the Enniscorthy group, and the best actress to Grace Brophy, of the Sunshine Players, Dublin, who played Hanna Jelkes in Tennessee Williams's The Night of the Iguana.
