Fears that the 80,000-gallon slurry spill into a lake two miles outside Westport may have spread into the main town river has led to a warning to the public not to use the water. Mayo County Council issued the warning yesterday in light of concerns that some pollutants from the spill into Knappabeg Lake, which occurred last weekend after a concrete wall collapsed, may have contaminated the main river serving the town.
