Dermot Weld predicted a bright future for Cairdeas after the colt's impressive victory at Naas yesterday.

The son of Darshaan cruised home by four lengths in a 15-runner 10-furlong maiden on just his second start.

Weld said: "That was very pleasing and the Gallinule Stakes at the Curragh on 1000 Guineas day (May 23rd) is the logical progression for him.

"He is still immature and has a little of physical improvement to make. When he fills into his frame he could be a very good horse although he will not want it firm."

The feature Woodland Stakes, a Listed race, over six furlongs went to Kevin Prendergast's Abunawwas, who short-headed Rae Guest's charge Millybaa.

"He'll probably go for the same Group Three race he won at Leopardstown last year - the Ballycorus Stakes over seven furlong on June 9th," said Prendergast.

"We may go to France as well as he settled well and he should get a  mile on round track."
