A two-car collision in Laraghbyran, Maynooth at around 10pm killed the 33-year-old driver of one of the cars.

The other driver was seriously injured and was taken to the Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown.

In Co Limerick, a man (21) died after the vehicle he was driving crashed at Caheragh, Glin at about 9.20pm.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Three passengers sustained minor injuries.

Elsewhere, gardaí have named the man who died in the collision in Ballynacargy, Co Westmeath, on Saturday, October 18th.

Kevin Rocke (36), from Ballynacargy, died when his four-wheel drive hit a post at the front of a house on the R363 at Slanemore, Ballynacargy, Co Westmeath, shortly after midday.

So far this year, 237 people have been killed on the State's roads.
