Waterford Wedgwood defers debt payments

Irish crystal maker Waterford Wedgwood has decided against making a debt payment with the support of its banks.

A 30-day grace period for making the payment on the 9 7/8 per cent notes starts today, Waterford said in statement.

Waterford also said its lenders had agreed to suspend enforcement of a test of financial covenants triggered by the non-payment until December 5th.
