Irish-owned pharmaceutical firm Pinewood Healthcare will create 150 jobs as part of an expansion at Ballymacarbry, Co Waterford.

Of the new intake, 65 jobs have already been created since the start of the year with the rest to be filled over the coming 18 months.

In addition to the increase in staff , the company is building a 14,000-square-foot extension to its factory as the firm raises production of its medical products in oral and topical formulations from a current 30 million packs per annum to over 65 million.

Pinewood Healthcare makes and distributes a wide range of generic over-the-counter treatments to pharmacies in Ireland and overseas.

The company is in the final stages of making its first Continental acquisition in Germany. It has also recently purchased a new range of products in Britain in addition to launching several treatments on the Irish market.
