Water projects to get £67m

The European Commission has approved more than £67 million in assistance for several strategic water and sewerage projects

The European Commission has approved more than £67 million in assistance for several strategic water and sewerage projects. The projects include the third stage of the Dublin Water Supply Scheme (£26 million); Tuam Water Supply Scheme (£13.7 million); Lisdoonvarna Water and Sewerage Schemes (£9.6 million); Waterford and Environs Water Supply Scheme (£12.6 million); and Portumna Sewerage Scheme (£5.3 million).

The Commission has also approved additional works costing £2.6 million on several projects for which funding had previously been agreed. In total, the Commission has approved about £110 million for Ireland for major water and sewerage projects from its 1997 budget.
