Waste-management company AQS Environmental Solutions is to invest €15 million in a new headquarters in Co Tipperary and create 100 jobs.

The headquarters will be on the site of the former BSN medical factory in Thurles, which closed last year with the loss of 80 jobs.

The company said the move came due to the "rapid expansion of its business" and that the jobs would be created in its environmental engineering and administrative divisions.

AQS Environmental Solutions is a member of the Arlo Group, which includes two other environmental services firms, Acorn Recycling and JHL Sales, both of which will be based at the new headquarters.

Arlo Group managing director Liam Kearney: "Our new Thurles headquarters . . . will direct operations at our business hubs in Dublin, Limerick, Cork and throughout the UK and Europe."
