Gardai have so far received no reports of illegal alcohol being sold door to door in Dublin even though the Department of Health issued a warning about it on Friday. It said in a statement the alcohol could cause blindness or death.

The Department said the clear alcohol, which resembled vodka, had been manufactured illegally. It is being sold in Dublin and possibly other parts of the State.

Consumers were asked to report purchases to the Garda or the Customs and Excise Bureau.
