MANCHESTER – Four youths who admitted their roles in slaughtering more than 100 newborn chickens with bricks have escaped going to court.

The three-day-old chicks were found dead in their pen at a farm in Blackburn, Lancashire, in April.

Lancashire constabulary said a 17-year-old youth was given a final warning over the incident, while three others, aged 15, 16 and 17, were given reprimands.

They also had to attend a restorative justice meeting with all the concerned parties, including the RSPCA and the farmers. – (PA)
