Violent death investigated in Galway

A 42-year-old man died in a Galway hospital this morning after meeting with what gardai are calling a "violent death".

A 42-year-old man died in a Galway hospital this morning after meeting with what gardai are calling a "violent death".

He was found seriously injured near the Walter Maken Flats in Mervue in the city at 5.45am this morning.

He was taken to Galway University Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The scene of the incident has been sealed off for technical examination and the State Pathologist has been called.

A man and a woman were arrested after the discovery. They are both detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice act at Mill Street Garda Station. The name of the deceased has not yet been released.
