The British Ministry of Defence launched a "thorough" investigation yesterday after video tapes depicting soldiers on anti terrorist training were sold to a journalist at a car boot sale.

An MoD spokesman confirmed that the videotapes had since been returned but refused to comment on the contents until it had studied them.

It is understood the tapes depict soldiers in a series of anti terrorist exercises including a simulated van mortar bomb attack.
