Gardaí have named the victim of yesterday's fatal hit-and-run incident in Co Cavan as 26-year-old Johnathon Heagney from Aughnagar, Galbally, Dungannon, Co Tyrone.
The incident occurred on the Carrickmacross Road near Kingscourt some time between 2am and 2pm yesterday.
Mr Heagney's remains have been taken to Navan hospital for a post mortem.
Gardaí wish to speak to anyone with information in relation to a dark red/maroon coloured Audi-type car that they believe may have been in the area at the time and may have been damaged.
