Vice president resigns

BOGOTA - Colombian Vice President Humberto de la Calle has resigned as ambassador to Spain amid one of the worst political crises to beset Colombia in years. A local radio network said Mr de la Calle sent his letter of resignation to President Ernesto Samper from Madrid. Mr Samper is facing new calls for his resignation after the United States cancelled his US entry visa last week.
