Varadkar says 3 travel tax to remain

Minister for Transport Leo Varadkar confirmed yesterday that the €3 travel tax would be retained

Minister for Transport Leo Varadkar confirmed yesterday that the €3 travel tax would be retained

but would be reviewed in the

spring.

Mr Varadkar said the tax would be suspended subject to a deal being reached with airlines to reinstate cancelled routes and restore lost capacity.

“I am disappointed that it was not possible to come to an agreement with the airlines,” he said.

Ryanair rejected the statement, saying it had submitted a “solid commitment” to deliver

up to 5 million additional passengers per year

over a five-year period.
