DONEGAL gardai and ESB officers are investigating the malicious destruction of a power line on Sunday night that left scores of homes without power for several hours in Rosses village near Dungloe, west Donegal.

Barbed wire attached to stones was thrown across power lines, bringing them to the ground. An ESB source described it as "dangerous, an act that could have resulted in serious injuries or worse".
