A Royal Mail van-driver appeared in court yesterday charged in connection with a £337,000 robbery from his employers.

A Royal Mail van-driver appeared in court yesterday charged in connection with a £337,000 robbery from his employers.

Mr Michael Calton, of Carrs Glen Park, Ballysillan, Belfast, was the driver of an armoured cash van robbed by an armed gang near Plumbridge, Co Tyrone, last autumn. At Strabane Magistrates' Court he was charged with stealing cash, coins, stamps and postal orders to a value of £337,414. He was also charged with conspiring with others to steal the same amount between July lst and October 2nd. He was remanded in custody for one week.
