Ulster Unionist members of Craigavon Borough Council at their annual meeting yesterday unexpectedly announced they were not putting forward any candidates for election as mayor and deputy mayor. By a unanimous decision the council elected deputy mayor DUP Alderman Mr Mervyn Carrick, as mayor, and SDLP councillor, Mrs Dolores Kelly, as deputy mayor.
