The Union of Students in Ireland has accused politicians of preferring short term "cures" to long term crime prevention.

The Union of Students in Ireland has accused politicians of preferring short term "cures" to long term crime prevention.

"We believe that individuals must take responsibility for their own actions and that criminals should be punished," USI said in a statement. "USI is angry that many of the areas from which convicted criminals come are under resourced, particularly in the area of education and training provision."
