The Union of Students in Ireland has criticised the Department of Welfare for not making welfare payments available to students who are unable to find work during the summer months.
A spokesman said: "USI are intent on stepping up the pressure on the Minister for Social Welfare to rectify the anomalies in the system that discriminate against a huge section of the student population."
