NEW YORK - The UN Security Council began closed«MDBO» «MDNM»door consultations yesterday one nominating a secretary«MDBO» «MDNM»general, with the US ambassador, Madeleine Albright, under instructions to block a second term for Dr Boutros Boutros Ghali.
One council member said that almost all his colleagues, except Ms Albright, had backed Dr Boutros«MDBO» «MDNM»Ghali's candidacy. Dr Ghali's current term expires on December 31st.
